Exhibition Highlights

Although this face is recognisably Amenhotep III the lapet wig, plaited beard, and composite headdress consisting of horizontal ram's horns, sun disk, and tall feathers identify the statue as a deity. The god is actually a unification of three deities with similar associations Ptah-Sokar-Osiris.
The most important of these was Osiris god of the realms of the dead and of resurrection. Ptah-Sokar-Osiris was often associated with the rising sun.
