Queen Tiye

Akhenaten's mother, Queen Tiye, lived on into his reign. She was venerated as a wise queen mother and may, like her husband Amenhotep III, even have been considered a god. In this statue, she wears a crown with a sun disk and cows horns, which connects her with the traditional goddess Hathor.
